Travelling can sometimes derail your fit and healthy lifestyle. However, maintaining your healthy lifestyle when on vacation will help you enjoy your holiday and help you easily adjust to a routine when you get back home. Here are a few tips on how to eat well and stay active when traveling.
Eating well on a plane – When traveling on a plane, you will be offered a lot of unhealthy meals that are made worse with inactivity and bloating. The best way to consume healthy meals on board is to bring your own food. You can bring with you snacks like bananas, apples, trail mix, nuts, carrots, celery sticks and energy bars. Add these to your carry on and you have a few healthy meals ready to go. It is also a good idea to avoid the alcohol and soft drinks, instead ask for a big bottle of water and sip this throughout the flight.
Eating well on a road trip – Before you start your journey it is best to fill a cooler with healthy sandwiches, fruit, and vegetables that you can eat on the go. It is also a good idea to include a few bottles of water, to maintain your hydration levels.
Staying active at your hotel – Choose a hotel that has a fitness center or a pool. If this is not possible, pack items like resistance bands and a skipping rope which can be easily used inside your hotel room.
