Tips for budget traveller

Everyone loves to travel (almost everyone). Certainly. Believe it or not, do it right and make a budget takes a little skill, knowledge and practice. However, the skills required are not difficult, the knowledge required is readily available, and the fun is in practice!
Last spring my wife and I were lucky enough to10 days in Italy. We did not spend a fortune, spared a few things and went to the other, and the net result was a very pleasant travel experience. Planning, of course, is the key. We agreed that our general itinerary and had a limited amount of time to spend, so the general outline of the trip was very clear from the beginning. We flew to Rome, spent a few days taking care of the biggies like St. Peter and the Vatican Museum, and made a lot of walking around the city.
Where were we? In a “budget” hotel. How do we find? The Internet. There are so many hotel options at reasonable prices, the biggest problem is to reduce the list. If you have even minimal skills to navigate the web, finding your accommodations this way is really easy to do. Many establishments even offer a discount for bookings made online. Oh by the way, when we paid the bill out, we paid in cash – another discount!
How did we get from Rome airport to the hotel? (Hint:. No taxi) Take the train! Much cheaper, more fun and actually easier. Even if you can not read the signs at the airport, finding the station is very easy. How do we really know it was so easy to reach the city from the airport on the train? We cheated. We read a travel guide before you leave! I’m not pitching a travel book here, and honestlyI do not remember what it was, but the point is, a little research beforehand can save a lot of money, time, aggravation, fear, uncertainty and all other negative emotions caused by arriving at a strange place andsuddenly realize that they have no idea what to do next. And finally, the train station in the city to our hotel was a short walk, because I planned it that way – no taxi. The walk to the hotel was made even more enjoyable by the fact that not over-burdened with luggage, which leads to the next practical tip – packing.
Ten days in Europe (or elsewhere) does not require a mountain of baggage – at least for two adults. Bags with handles and wheels are essential. Walking to the hotel with our luggage was a breeze. Packaging, as well as other parts of a trip, requires a little planning. If you are careful and clear about his plans to travel and socialize, you can get by with less than you think.
Keep your travel documents and money secure is always a concern. A very important lesson I learned years ago during a trip to Europe. Having done a lot of business around the world, I made the mistake of thinking that was immune to pickpockets. I will not mention the city the event took place, but then I was amazed at the skill demonstrated by the “team” that has my wallet – a pocket of the jacket zipped closed! It happened in a revolving door – andthink again about the episode, I realize that I was an expert in size to the “success” in advance. In short, realize that anyone can be “fooled” even if you think you are an expert. Lesson – I never travel far without the money belt. On our last trip to Italy, all valuables in the money belt at all times, and there were no incidents. Even the “gypsy children” inthe Coliseum were not a threat (if you go to Rome, be sure to read about the area around the Colosseum – You must see it, but the main territory of expert young thieves).
In short, a little imagination and careful planning can make a big difference in the level of pleasure that is derived from his next trip – whether it is a European tour or a road trip with his family to the mountains. I think letting someone else do it all and spend their days locked in a bus or follow someone all day deprives you of half the fun. So plan your next trip carefully and enjoy it more.
