Florida’s South Beach Wine and Food Festival

The Sunshine State hosts its fair share of food festivals, from the Seafood Festival and the Strawberry Festival to the Florida Winefest and Auction. But one of the most anticipated food festivals in the state is the Food Network South Beach Wine and Food Festival presented by Food and Wine magazine. Whether you live in the area or are planning a vacation to Florida, it’s worth spending a day or more at this four-day extravaganza scheduled for February 20-23, 2014.

The South Beach Wine and Food Festival has been going on for more than 12 years, and what started out as a one-day event turned into a four-day festival that attracts more and more people each year. In 2002, for example, the festival attracted about 7,000 people. However, in 2013, just 11 years later, the festival attracted a record breaking 65,000 people.

In addition to wine tasting, the event features dinners, a live auction, and plenty of seminars. Next year’s festival includes more than 50 events, 200 chefs and culinary personalities, and more than 150 wineries and spirits producers featuring their fine products. Some of the keynote personalities at last year’s event included Paula Deen, Giada De Laurentiis, and Rachael Ray, to name a few. For a taste of what you might encounter next year, you can visit the festival’s website to view last year’s photographs.

If you plan to attend the festival, fantastic accommodations are available in Miami Beach, such as the Delano, Gale Hotel, The Ritz-Carlton, and W South Beach. The most affordable rooms in the area are available at the Albion Hotel, among others.
